Welcome to Yellowknife, the home of legendary Air Tindi!
Air Tindi began operations on November 1, 1988 with four float/ski airplanes and eight employees in Yellowknife.
During the program we will explore the mighty DHC-6 Twin Otter and the all around Cessna 208 Grand Caravan. Air Tindi uniquely utilizes the Cessna 208 Grand Caravan to meet the needs of its customers. From the Old Town float base we will board the aircraft at the docks and enjoy some amazing float flying! A detailed walk around, pre start inspection, and an abundance of local knowledge are all a part of our flight to a nearby fishing camp!
Aboard the DHC6 Twin Otter we will touch down on the smooth water surrounding Blachford Lake Lodge. Our crew will cover the workings of the Twin Otter! Walk arounds, pre start checks, starting procedures, and much, much more! Also, we’ll gain insight into the careers of the aspiring pilots that contribute to the success of the airline! These pilots work their way into flying positions on the docks and airport ramps of Air Tindi! Welcome to the pride of Yellowknife!
Later, we’ll make our way to the Yellowknife airport and fly one of the north’s most scenic routes enroute to Lutsel K’e airport! Our program covers much more than just the basics! Get in depth, up close and personal with fantastic aircraft, destinations, and personalities.
Air Tindi operates a diversified fleet of 20 aircraft and employees over 100 people in the peak summer flying season. Customers include major diamond and base metal exploration and mining companies, Governments of Canada and Northwest Territories, GNWT Corporations, native organizations, Bands and residents, canoeing, hunting and fishing parties, trappers, tourists and sport teams.
